Domaine Chateau Phelan Segur Phelan SégurLe Castle was established in the early nineteenth century by an Irish merchant based in Bordeaux Bernard Phelan. The domain and is named for part of its owner, which acquired in 1805 Clos de Garamey located in Saint Estèphe, and partly from the acquisition in 1810 of Segur Cabanac domain that has complemented the wine together. In 1985, Xavier Gardinier regained Chateau Phelan Segur with the help of his three son. After more than 30 years of work on the field, the Gardinier family forwarded the reins to Philippe Van Vyvere following an acquisition in January 2018. The vineyard of Chateau Phelan Segur covers the eastern part of the town of Saint- estčphe covering 90 hectares of vines planted on a soil composed of gravel and stone coated with clayey sands on a limestone carrier. The harvest is done by hand and assembled wine from Merlot grape varieties 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 51% Cabernet Franc 2%. At Chateau Phelan Segur, the culture of the vine is reasoned, grapes sorted in the vineyard and in the winery to give after a flock of 14 to 18 months, a wine of exceptional quality recognized and appreciated by lovers of Bordeaux. The Château Phelan Segur also developing since 1986 of second wines in the same Saint-Estèphe appellation Frank Phelan and the Bonis Cross, coming from selected plots mainly planted in Cabernet Sauvignon.
