The Saint Estèphe are the most tannic wines of the Médoc. Dressed in red garnet, they are long closed mouth to better explode when mature. 2006 was a difficult vintage. It is a winemaker's vintage. The winter was cold and hard with snowfall. Spring was wet which allowed the mildew from spreading. The warm spell from mid-June evolved into drought. The month of August was execrable. Finally a beautiful September allowed harvest on a beautiful maturities. Good winemakers have managed a beautiful and great vintage.
