2017 Far Niente Winery Napa Valley Chardonnay (Chardonnay)
- View: Pale yellow.
- Nose: melon aroma, sweet citrus and white flowers, with hints of yeast and toasted oak.
- Mouth: ripe flavors and citrus acidity. persistent and bitter end, sage and spicy aftertaste.

VINEYARD: Far Niente winery was founded in 1885 by John Benson, uncle of the famous American Impressionist painter Winslow Homer, against a hill in western Oakville, California. It flourished until the beginning of Prohibition in 1919, when allowed to fall into disrepair. In 1979, Gil Nickel bought the winery and the adjacent vineyard and began a three-year restoration of the property. 1982 marks the return of winemaking at Far Niente, while the vintages 1979, 1980 and 1981 occurred in a place outside the site. Today, the winery is still only producing these two varieties.
AGING fermentation barrels and 95% in steel tanks 5%. No malolactic fermentation. Aging on the lees for 10 months in French oak barrels.
PREPARATION: mix of excellent vineyards of Napa Valley, many of which are located in Coombsville, a region located in the rolling countryside and protected by the hills east of the city of Napa. The vines are grown in this area for over 30 years. Coombsville offers the characteristic climate of Carneros, with less wind, deep loamy soil and well drained soil, and volcanic ash soils.
