Jumilla Wine
View all products in Jumilla Wine »The Jumilla denomination of origin underwent a devastating phylloxera infestation in the late ‘80s, which forced growers to plant new vines. Because of this, they focused on native varieties such as Monastrell, which now is 80% of the grapes cultivated. Now, due to new winemaking techniques, they produce white, red and rosé wines. They are elegant wines widely sought after abroad.
The Jumilla denomination grows Monastrell, to which they add grenache, cenciel, cabernet sauvignon, syrah and garnacha tintorera. In white grapes, Airén is the most widely-cultivated grape, but there is also Malvasia, Macabeo and Pedro Ximénez.
