The strain originates Garnacha Spain. Occurs massively in Zaragoza, Teruel and Tarragona but is also very established in other countries like France in Provence, Côtes du Rhône and the Languedoc-Rossello.

Grenache wines are powerful wines, with great body and lots of alcohol, very expressive, with round tannins. Grenache is a very productive and vigorous strain.

It is also used for sweet red wines like Banyuls or Maury or blend with Macabeo and Pedro Ximénez. Grenache wines leave feelings of blackberry, currant and cherry.
