Presentation
Vega Sicilia winery is probably the most recognized in the world Spain. Eloy Lecanda founded in 1864. During its nearly 150-year history, the winery has changed owners but always with a personality of its wines: concentrated, genres and very elegant. Vega Sicilia currently belongs to the Alvarez Mezquíriz they bought in 1982 looking to be at the forefront with the latest innovations in the process of growing and winemaking and expanding the vineyard area.
The extension of the vineyards of Vega Sicilia is located in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid) following the course of the river, with 250 hectares of vineyards. The variety of the winery is the Ribera Tempranillo or Tinto Fino, being a native strain. Also grown merlot, cabernet sauvignon and malbec.
Vega Sicilia is without doubt the standard of Spanish wine in the world.
